What is Naturopathy?

Naturopathy is a holistic system of healthcare that supports the body’s natural ability to heal itself. It combines modern science with traditional healing practices to explore underlying factors that may be contributing to your health concerns

Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all approach, naturopathy considers the whole person: body, mind, emotions, environment, and lifestyle. Your symptoms may be seen as messages from the body, not problems to silence, but clues to understand.

Naturopaths use a range of tools, including herbal medicine, nutraceuticals, nutritional advice, lifestyle education, functional testing, and physical assessment methods such as blood pressure, iridology, and tongue and nail analysis.

First, Do No Harm

(Primum non nocere)

Gentle, non-invasive therapies are prioritised to minimise the risk of side effects.

The 6 Principles of Naturopathy

The Healing Power of Nature

(Vis medicatrix nature)

The body has an innate wisdom and ability to heal when supported with the right tools and conditions.

Identify and Treat the Cause

(Tolle causam)

Rather than just masking symptoms, we work to uncover and address the underlying cause.

Treat the Whole Person

(Tolle totum)

Physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing are all considered part of the healing process.

Doctor as Teacher

(Docere)

Education is empowering. A naturopath’s role includes helping you understand your body and how to care for it.

Prevention is Better than Cure

(Praevenire)

Long-term health is built through prevention, addressing imbalances before they become illness.

HERBAL MEDICINE

Herbal medicine is one of the oldest healing traditions in the world, and it remains an evidence-informed tool in modern naturopathy.

Herbs contain naturally occurring compounds and have been traditionally used to support wellbeing in many areas, such as stress, digestion, and menstrual health.

In naturopathic practice, herbal medicine is personalised. A liquid herbal formula may be blended specifically for your needs, or capsules may be prescribed depending on what suits you and your lifestyle.

Herbal medicine is generally considered gentle, and is often used in a personalised way to support overall wellbeing

NUTRITION

Nutritional therapeutics involves using food and specific nutrients to explore and support your body’s unique needs.

Nutrition is a foundation of overall health and can influence many aspects of wellbeing, including energy, mood, and general vitality.

In naturopathic care, we go beyond general dietary advice. We consider how your body may be using or lacking certain nutrients and create strategies to support your individual requirements.

This might include personalised dietary guidance, the use of food as medicine, practitioner-only supplements (where appropriate), and investigating digestive health and nutrient absorption.

The focus is on nourishing your body in a way that supports sustainable wellbeing.

LIFESTYLE

Lifestyle is the foundation of long-term health, and often, small shifts can make a big difference in how you feel, function, and move through each day.

In naturopathic care, lifestyle medicine focuses on identifying daily habits that may be supporting or hindering your health. Together, we create realistic and sustainable strategies to support a greater sense of balance and vitality.

Lifestyle recommendations are always tailored to your unique needs and may include support in areas such as, sleep hygiene, resistance and strength training, daily movement, circadian rhythm support, and mindfulness.

Lifestyle medicine is never about perfection. It’s about meeting you where you are at, and guiding you toward habits that nourish you, not deplete you. It’s in the simple daily rituals that long-term health is built.
